Totally Tubular Tuesday: Teacher-led vs. Student-led...

Howdy Y'all,

Today is Tuesday, September 13, 2016.  Today will hopefully look a little different than before.  We are going to try a new, yet simple, idea.  Some of you may have experienced this type of learning before.  We are going to try learning and working in centers or stations.  Some teachers call this type of learning stations and others call this type of learning centers.  Either way, they are almost identical.

The stations/centers today will include 4 separate activities.  The first center will be a reading center.  You may read your self-selected library book or magazine, or I have pulled out 3 one-page-wonder articles that may pique your interest.  The second center will involve viewing a TEDx Teen Talk that is linked to this blog.  The TEDx Teen Talk is about failure, success, and why we glorify success so much more than failure.  The third center will be your free writing center.  You may have two journal entries about a time when you were "embarrassed" or "scared".  For this center today, let's tell a story of a time when you were really "angry".  Finally, the fourth center will be "Teacher-led".  This means will be working with a small group.  Since we started our Bootcamp yesterday, we will be working on sentences and sentence fragments.  I hope I can be your Bootcamp Coach.  Have fun and enjoy!

Yours truly,
C

Mr. C, I really liked the video because now I know that we try to succeed in school all the time, but we don't want to fail either. Sometimes we need to fail.

Mr. C, this comment is a good comment for today because these girls are talking about failure and they looked it up in the community library, then they looked in their college and they could not find any books about failure. They say it is because people don't like talking about how they fail. I like that they brought it up because no one would have brought it up.
